This was the cover for the book Ruin Quest Land of the Samurai from Mongoose Publishing. It depicts a Heian period Samurai in full armour with his Tachi in hand.
I HAVE to favorite this one. While I was in the US Army my unit was the 1/187 infantry regiment and our unit symbol was a red torii gate. Our nickname was "Rakkasan", Japanese for "falling umbrella men" from when we jumped into Japan in 1945...the first foreign troops to enter Japan in over 2000 years. (Sorry for the unasked for history lesson )
No, very cool!
I hope you don't mind, but I shared this with the Rakkasan Group page on Facebook, giving you full credit, of course. You're one of my all-time favorite artist and I'm just glad I found you on here. (Again, sorry for the fanboy moment )
nice work on the o-yoroi. it's very accurate to the period.
